Below are the questions we hear most from homeowners and contractors across Huntsville, Madison County, and the surrounding Tennessee Valley. If you don’t see your answer here, call us directly at (938) 666-6548 and we’ll walk you through it.
Pricing & Booking
How do I get a price for my dumpster rental?
Call (938) 666-6548 and tell us the size you need, your address, and how long you expect to need the container. We’ll quote you a straightforward flat rate over the phone.
Is the price you quote the price I pay?
Yes. The flat rate we quote is based on your size, location, and rental period, and it’s the number that shows up on your invoice — no hidden fees added after the box is dropped.
How far in advance do I need to book?
Many customers book a day or two ahead, but if you call in the morning we can often deliver the same day depending on the route and your location.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept standard payment methods over the phone or at time of service. Ask our team about specifics when you call to book.
Do you charge extra if I go over the rental period?
Extended rental periods are billed at a daily rate beyond the included time. We’ll tell you your included period and the extension rate when you book, so there’s no surprise later.
Do you charge extra for overweight loads?
Each size comes with a weight allowance. If your debris — especially heavy material like concrete, dirt, or shingles — pushes past that allowance, an overage fee applies. We’ll walk you through the right size to avoid this before you book — see our
size guide for reference.
Permits & Placement
Do I need a permit to have a dumpster on my own property?
No. Placement entirely on private property — your driveway, yard, or a parking pad — is unregulated everywhere in our service area. No permit is required for private property placement.
When do I need a permit for a dumpster in Huntsville?
Any time the container needs to sit in a public street inside Huntsville city limits, the City’s Engineering Division requires a Street Cut Permit. No dumpster-specific fee is published anywhere on the City’s site, so we’ll tell you to call the Engineering Division directly to confirm before booking.
Why can’t you just tell me the Huntsville street permit fee?
Because it genuinely isn’t published. The City’s Engineering Division confirms the Street Cut Permit itself is real, but no dumpster-specific fee shows up anywhere on the City’s site. We’d rather send you to the Engineering Division for a real number than guess.
What about unincorporated parts of Madison County, like Harvest or New Market?
Those communities don’t have their own city government, so Madison County’s own Commission and Public Works department is the real permitting authority for local roads and rights-of-way there — not a city office.
Does the permit process vary by town?
Yes, genuinely. Alabama’s local government runs on counties and incorporated cities and towns only, with no township layer, so Madison, Owens Cross Roads, Gurley, Athens, Decatur, Hartselle, Elkmont, Priceville, Guntersville, Arab, Albertville, and Scottsboro each run their own separate council or public-works office, entirely apart from Huntsville’s process. See our
permit guide for the full breakdown.
Is there a special permit for placing a dumpster on a state route or highway?
No separate ALDOT permit applies to a dumpster sitting on a city street, even where a state route runs through town. ALDOT permits cover driveway entrances and highway encroachments, not containers — placement is still handled through that city’s own ordinance.
Is placement different near downtown Huntsville or the Twickenham and Old Town historic districts?
No special review applies to a container sitting on your own property in those neighborhoods. If it needs to sit in a public street, the same City of Huntsville Street Cut Permit process applies as it would anywhere else in the city.
Sizes & What Fits
What dumpster sizes do you offer?
We offer 10, 15, 20, 30, and 40 yard roll-off dumpsters. See our
full size guide for details on each.
What size do most homeowners rent?
The 20 yard is our most requested size — it typically handles whole-house cleanouts, larger remodels, and mid-size roofing jobs without going oversized.
What size do I need for a small cleanout or garage purge?
A 10 or 15 yard usually covers a small cleanout, a garage purge, or a single-room remodel — see our
15 yard page for details.
What size do I need for a whole-house project or new construction?
A 30 or 40 yard is typically the right call for whole-house renovations, commercial cleanouts, or new-construction debris — see our
30 yard page for details.
I’m not sure which size I need — can you help?
Yes, this is what we do all day. Call (938) 666-6548 with a rough description of the job and we’ll recommend a size based on what similar projects across the Huntsville area have needed.
Delivery & Access
How much space does the truck need to deliver?
Our roll-off trucks generally need a clear, straight path to the drop spot and enough overhead clearance for the box to be raised and set down. Tell us about tight spots or low tree limbs when you book so we can plan accordingly.
Can you deliver to a tight driveway?
Yes, we handle tight driveways and narrow lots regularly, from older in-town neighborhoods near Twickenham and Old Town to newer subdivisions across Madison County. Describe the access when you call and we’ll tell you honestly what will work.
Do I need to be home for delivery or pickup?
Not necessarily, as long as we have clear instructions on where to place the container and access to that spot. Many customers coordinate delivery without being on-site.
Will the dumpster damage my driveway?
We place boards under the rails when needed to protect asphalt, concrete, and gravel surfaces, and our drivers place the container carefully to minimize any impact on your property.
How do you handle delivery during spring storm season?
North Alabama sits in what meteorologists call Dixie Alley, and spring — March through May — is our sharpest tornado and severe-thunderstorm risk window, with a smaller secondary bump in November. Storm cleanup calls spike during and after those systems, so we recommend booking early when severe weather is forecast for your area.
Can you deliver the same day I call?
Often, yes, especially for calls placed early in the day, depending on the route and your location. Call (938) 666-6548 and we’ll tell you what’s realistic.
What Can & Can't Go In
Can I put electronics in the dumpster?
We’d rather you didn’t mix them in. Alabama doesn’t have a statewide law banning electronics from landfills, but most disposal facilities won’t accept TVs, computers, and monitors mixed into general debris — the voluntary E-Cycle Alabama program run through ADEM is the better route for those items.
Can asbestos-containing material go in the dumpster?
No, never. Asbestos requires specialized handling and disposal by a licensed abatement contractor — it cannot go in a standard roll-off container under any circumstances.
What other items are prohibited?
Paint, fuel, motor oil, and other chemicals; lead-acid batteries; whole tires; medical waste; and appliances still holding refrigerant generally can’t go in a standard roll-off. Alabama’s Waste Tire Recycling Act specifically restricts landfilling whole tires, alongside batteries and used oil under ADEM’s general solid-waste rules. Ask us if you’re unsure about a specific item — see our
what can go in a dumpster guide for the full list.
Can I put yard waste in a regular dumpster?
Yard waste has its own separate exclusion list even when it’s otherwise allowed — no treated or painted wood, no plastic planters or pots, no fertilizers or lawn chemicals, and no bagged household trash mixed in with the clippings and branches.
What happens to items you won’t take?
We’ll tell you honestly what can’t go in the box and point you to the right disposal option — a certified e-waste recycler, a household hazardous waste program, or a licensed abatement contractor, depending on the item.
I’m not sure if an item is allowed — can I just ask?
Absolutely. Call (938) 666-6548 before you load anything questionable and we’ll tell you straight whether it can go in the box or needs to go somewhere else.
